Encounter Sea Creatures at the Large Tank of Tatsucushi Bay
About this spot
An aquarium where you can fully experience the rich natural environment of the southwestern tip of Shikoku with the theme "From Ashizuri's Primeval Forest to the Sea." The museum's exhibits flow naturally through the actual succession of nature, starting from primeval forest streams, moving through rocky shores, and culminating in the underwater world of Tatsucushi Bay. The highlight is the large tank recreating the underwater seascape of Tatsucushi Bay. Watching large fish swimming leisurely and schools of small fish gives such an immersive sensation it feels like standing on the ocean floor. With sea turtles and vividly colored tropical fish brought by the Kuroshio Current, you'll become thoroughly acquainted with the creatures of Ashizuri's sea, making the subsequent visits to Tatsucushi Coast, the submarine observatory, and Kashiwajima Island many times more interesting. It's the perfect introductory stop for this course.
Tips
Free parking is available in the Tatsucushi area, and since the Tatsucushi Coast is within walking distance, you can leave your car and explore on foot. Right after opening, the museum is less crowded, making it a prime time to have the large tank almost to yourself.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour 20 minutes required. Right after opening, there are fewer people and you can spend leisurely time in front of the large tank.
