About this spot

A seaside park right by Yasu Station (夜須駅), adjoining the Michi-no-Eki Yasu (道の駅やす) roadside station. The palm-tree-lined grounds have a lawn plaza, playground equipment, and a boardwalk, and right in front spreads what could be called the park's symbol: a white sandy beach and the Pacific Ocean. In summer it bustles with families enjoying the sea, but a walk feeling the sea breeze is pleasant year-round, making it a perfect spot to break your train journey. The roadside station has shops selling local products and sweets, and enjoying soft-serve ice cream while gazing at the sea is a classic way to spend time here. You can walk along the coastal road to Tei Port Movable Bridge (手結港可動橋), your next stop, so it's also a convenient starting point for a digestive walk.

Tips

Attached to Michi-no-Eki Yasu, restrooms and shops are easy to use, making it an ideal rest stop. On days with strong sun, don't forget a hat and water. If you plan to walk on the beach, shoes that keep sand out or easy-to-remove sandals are comfortable.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour. In the morning there are fewer people, so you can enjoy a leisurely walk along the beach and palm trees.
