Close Out Your Day with the Gentle Murmur of the Yasuda River and Rising Steam
About this spot
A small country inn hot spring nestled on the banks of the clear Yasuda River. Soaking in the bath, you'll gaze out the window at the river and deep greenery, gently soothing away the fatigue of your drive and culinary adventures. Nearby, riverside walking paths await, and remnants of the historic Gyoraze Forest Railway—once used to transport timber from the mountains—including restored train cars and an incline, provide afternoon stroll pleasures. The shop stocks chilled Gokun Umaji Village, and a post-bath bottle tastes incomparably delicious. Wrapped in the gentle murmur of the stream where sweetfish swim and wisps of thermal steam, slowly conclude your day in the yuzu village.
Tips
Day-use bathing is available; bringing your own towel is recommended (though towels are sold in-house). The restored forest railway and incline have limited operating days, so check with the village tourism information desk beforehand if you'd like to ride. The return journey involves winding mountain roads, so departing before dark is recommended.
Best time to visit
Approximately 2 hours. The ideal itinerary is to complete the riverside walk while it's still light, then enjoy the bath before sunset.
