The Ika-maru sightseeing boat departing from Yobuko Port, with its distinctive hull shaped like a squid, guides visitors to Nanatsutsubo, a scenic spot created by the rough waves of the Genkai-nada Sea. Nanatsutsubo is a nationally designated natural monument featuring seven sea caves lined up along columnar jointed basalt cliffs, and the regularly etched rock face resembles a giant stone pipe organ. On calm days, the boat slowly enters the caverns, and visitors let out exclamations of awe at the contrast between the overhanging rock ceiling and the blue sea. The dramatic power of the cliffs viewed from the sea is an entirely different experience from land-based views. It's a thrilling marine attraction unique to the Genkai-nada, nestled between the morning market and squid cuisine.

Tips

Departure times are fixed, so check the day's operating status and schedule at the harbor office before adjusting your morning market plans. On rough seas, the boat may not operate or may not be able to enter the caverns. The open sea can be rough, so those prone to seasickness should take preventive medication. The deck has strong sea breezes, so be careful that your hat doesn't blow away.
