A traditional restaurant established over 150 years ago, with the name read as "Yoshisou." The specialty is "Goichininmae" (御一人前)—a generous set pairing fluffy chawanmushi (savory egg custard) served in a large bowl with lightly sweet steamed sushi. The generously-filled chawanmushi, featuring conger eel, chicken, and fish cake, is renowned for its fragrant broth and silky texture, loved by Nagasaki residents across generations. The wooden interior retains its traditional charm and warmth; simply taking a seat transports you into the history of this established restaurant. Located just steps from Hamachi Arcade, the restaurant is easily accessible from both the Spectacles Bridge and Temple Town, making it perfect for a lunch stop during your walk.

Tips

Midday gets crowded with tourists and locals, so aim for just after opening or around 1 p.m. for fewer crowds. The chawanmushi arrives piping hot, so take care not to burn yourself and savor it slowly. Since stone steps await in the afternoon, eating until about 80% full is advisable.
