A scenic viewpoint along the Amakusa West Coast drive route, known as the Sunset Line. From atop the dramatic cliffs jutting into the East China Sea, you can survey the intricately indented inlets, the deep blue waters, and passing ships on the horizon. This spot is counted among the Amakusa Eight Evening Sun Scenes (天草夕陽八景) and attracts many visitors hoping to witness the sunset sinking into the horizon. The observation area features a café with large windows facing the sea, where you can enjoy drinks and sweets while gazing at the spectacular views. It's a perfect midway rest stop to linger in the afterglow of the dolphin encounter while being soothed by the blue expanse.
Tips
Windowside seats at the café are popular, so claim one if available. Mind your footing on the stairs and paths at the observation spot. On sunny days, the ocean's blue is most striking, so have your camera ready.
