At 173 meters high and 390 meters long, this pedestrian-only suspension bridge is Japan's tallest and a symbol of Kujo. From atop the bridge spanning the Naruko River Gorge, you can see the twin cascades of Shindō Falls—selected as one of Japan's 100 Best Waterfalls—dropping like white silk threads, alongside the dramatic panorama formed by Kyūsuikei's cliffs. The bridge's center section features a mesh floor, allowing you to see the 173-meter drop to the valley below for a thrilling experience. The time spent slowly crossing above the gorge, buffeted by the wind, feels like an aerial stroll through the clouds. With spring's fresh greenery and autumn's crimson foliage changing the valley's colors with each season, this is the course's greatest highlight, offering a fresh perspective with every visit.

Tips

The bridge is exposed with no shelter, and winds are often strong, so secure your hat. Ticket booths and parking areas exist on both the Nakamura and Kitakata sides; crossing and returning is the standard route. The autumn foliage season brings crowds, so early morning visits are most comfortable. Those uncomfortable with heights need not push themselves; the view from the observation area alone is fully enjoyable.
