A Free Learning Center Where You Can Preview Kirishima's Nature Before Exploring the Highlands
About this spot
A visitor center located in the heart of Ebino Plateau that introduces all of Kirishima's natural wonders. Inside, you'll find exhibits on the landforms created by Kirishima's volcanoes, the flora and fauna that inhabit the plateau, and displays showing the changing seasons. Admission is free and easy to access. Beyond the windows, the plateau's grasslands and Kirishima's peaks spread out before you, making it the perfect place to preview the landscapes you'll soon explore. Maps of walking trails and up-to-date hiking information are available here, so confirming points of interest and easy routes before you set out will greatly enrich your highland walk. The facility also provides restrooms and rest areas, serving as a reliable starting point for your drive.
Tips
Volcanic activity can occasionally affect access restrictions on the trails, so be sure to check which courses are open for the day here. Since the plateau is cooler than the lowlands, it's wise to bring a light jacket or sweater.
Best time to visit
Allow approximately 30 minutes. Early morning, before exploring the trails, is ideal for confirming the latest information about the hiking paths.
