Seaside Park Where You Can Watch the Sunset Over the East China Sea from Beneath Screw Pine Shade

About this spot

Located about a 10-minute drive from Nase city center, this seaside park spreads across a cove facing the East China Sea. The scenery woven together by the blue sea, white sand beach, and green mountains rising behind is magnificent, with subtropical plants like screw pines and cycads thriving along the shore. At dusk, the sunset descending toward the horizon dyes the sea and sky in shades of crimson, earning this place recognition as one of the island's finest sunset viewing spots. Within the park grounds is the Amami Marine Exhibition Hall where you can encounter sea turtles, making it popular with families. As you listen to the sound of waves and gaze at the sea from beneath the screw pine shade, an incomparably peaceful island time flows on to perfectly conclude your subtropical blue day.

Tips

If sunset is your goal, check the time of sunset and arrive early. The path down to the beach is steep, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended. The beach at dusk is a popular photography spot, so secure your favorite location a little early. Drive carefully on the return route to the city center as it becomes dark.

Best time to visit

Approximately 1 hour. Evening when the sun begins to incline toward the East China Sea is the best time to visit.
