Where the Sumiyoshi River and Yakukatsu River converge at the estuary, Japan's second-largest mangrove primeval forest spreads out. Kuroshio Forest Mangrove Park serves as the base for exploration, and the popular canoe experience allows you to paddle through waterways dense with Bruguiera and Kandelia under expert guide direction. As you navigate the narrow waterways that transform with the tides, a green tunnel envelops you overhead, and at water level you're embraced by the primordial silence of the primeval forest in a mystical moment. From the observation platform in the park, you can also enjoy panoramic views of the meandering river and expansive mangrove forest below. Tips

Canoe experiences change departure times and routes depending on tidal levels, so advance reservations and time confirmation are recommended.
