A seaside park stretching along Kinko Bay, directly in front of Io World Kagoshima Aquarium. Beyond the spacious grassy expanse, Sakurajima volcano rises majestically straight ahead, and you can leisurely watch the sight of ferries and ships crossing the harbor. Simply resting on a bench or the grass while breathing in the sea breeze will soon bring home the reality that you are in Kagoshima, a harbor town. This is a favorite gathering place for citizens, bustling with events on weekends, and the boardwalk along the waterfront offers a pleasant walk. It's the perfect spot to cool down before heading to lunch, allowing you to savor the lingering impressions of the aquarium.

Tips

The grassy area has few spots offering shade from the sun, so on days with strong sunlight, remember to bring a hat and water. Sakurajima can emit volcanic ash depending on wind direction, so on such days, consider adjusting your schedule flexibly by shortening your stay and moving on to the next spot.

Best time to visit

Approximately 40 minutes required. The bright light around midday brings out Sakurajima's silhouette most clearly.
