A Grand Panorama of Sakurajima and the City from Approximately 91 Meters Above Ground

About this spot

A large observation wheel situated on the roof of Amu Plaza Kagoshima, the station building of Kagoshima Central Station. When the gondola reaches its highest point, you are approximately 91 meters above ground. Beyond the cityscape below, Sakurajima volcano rises proudly in Kinko Bay, and on clear days you can enjoy a grand panorama uniquely Kagoshima, where city, sea, and volcano intertwine. Transparent-floored gondolas are also available for those seeking a thrill. The convenient location directly connected to the station makes it an easy stop to conclude your trip. Slowly circling through the sky is the perfect time for your family to share the memories of your day together.

Tips

Located on a station building rooftop, it's convenient to combine a ride with souvenir shopping before and after. The transparent gondolas are limited in number, so you may have a short wait if you request one. Those uncomfortable with heights can choose a regular gondola for peace of mind. The early evening time is particularly popular.

Best time to visit

Approximately 45 minutes required. Just before sunset, when Sakurajima and the city are bathed in evening light, is the most highly recommended time.
