A roadside station along National Route 226 running beside Kinko Bay, popular as a rest stop for drives toward Ibusuki. The local products pavilion is filled with agricultural products, processed goods, and sweets from Kiin and southern Kagoshima City, perfect for souvenir shopping. The specialty is soft-serve ice cream made from the locally-grown Sakurajima mandarins, where the tangy-sweet aroma of these small fruits bursts in your mouth. Kiin is also known as the site of naturally-occurring Melirhiza trees designated as a nationally-protected special natural monument. Feel the sea breeze as you take a break before heading to your final stop.
Tips
