Green Valley Stroll Soothed by Waterfalls and Babbling Streams
About this spot
A lush park spreading along the Wada River canyon, close to the town of Yayama. Throughout the park, waterfalls and clear streams flow, and walking along the tree-lined pathways, you're enveloped by water sounds and bird calls, forgetting you're in the city. As its name suggests, this is a historic location developed on the former site of Jigenji Temple that once stood here. It's beloved by residents for seasonal beauty – cherry blossoms in spring and fresh greenery in early summer. In summer, it's known for its somen noodle-flowing events. An gentle waterside stroll perfectly concludes a day spent exploring animals and countryside.
Tips
The pathways have plenty of tree shade and are easy to walk even in the evening. However, areas near the river can be wet, so non-slip shoes are recommended. Use the restroom here before heading home for a smooth departure. Plan to finish your walk before the sun fully sets.
Best time to visit
Approximately 40 minutes required. Late afternoon when the western sun softens is when the dappled sunlight and water sounds are most soothing.
