About this spot

An observation tower standing 82m above sea level on a hilltop on Kouri Island. From the entrance, board a self-driving cart and ride slowly up through gardens bursting with tropical flowers. At the top, the building houses a Shell Museum with shells collected from around the world, and from the observation floor and rooftop deck you can take in the full sweep of Kouri Bridge cutting a straight line across the cobalt-blue sea. Looking back from up high at the road you just drove is an especially exhilarating feeling. A shop and café are also on site, so you can spend a relaxed island moment in front of the breathtaking view.

Tips

The rooftop observation deck can be windy on some days, so keep an eye on your hat. The cart drives itself, so there's no need to worry about driving. Taking photos of the garden as you ride up slowly makes the journey to the top part of the fun.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 15 minutes. Early afternoon offers the best light direction, when the bridge and sea's blue really pop.
