Next stop: A Celebrated Sunset Spot: White Lighthouse, Towering Cliffs, and the East China SeaAbout this spot
A waterfront experience facility themed around "salt," boasting a location with the East China Sea spread directly ahead. The signature attraction is traditional salt-making where seawater drawn from Yomitan is simmered down; you can observe the salt-making process, and there's also a popular hands-on experience option (additional fee) where you can make salt from seawater yourself. Within the grounds is also a glassblowing workshop where you can watch molten red glass transform into Ryukyu glass vessels through the breath and skilled hands of craftspeople in real time. Additionally, pottery experiences, a café, and a shop are gathered here, making it enjoyable even just to walk around. Following the yachimun you selected in the morning, this is a place to encounter another handcraft nurtured by Yomitan's sea: salt and glass.
Tips
Admission and viewing are free; salt-making and glassblowing experiences and other activities have separate fees and varying duration times, so if you want to try something, it's best to check with reception right after arriving to confirm timing. The seaside has strong sunlight, so a hat is advisable. Homemade salt from the shop makes a welcomed souvenir.
Best time to visit
Allow approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. An afternoon stroll when the sea appears most brilliantly blue is particularly pleasant.
