The spacious riverside of the Tamagawa is tonight's viewing area. Spread leisure sheets on the embankment slope or in the riverside clearing while awaiting the start, gazing at the sky darkening and the city lights of the opposite Setagaya bank. Since the festival moved to an October schedule, the attraction is that fireworks appear crisp and clear against the clean autumn air. The temperature drops significantly at night, so prepare a light jacket or blanket for the wait.

Tips

Traffic restrictions are in place on the day of the event, and paid viewing areas are designated. Free areas operate on a first-come, first-served basis, so aim to arrive up to one hour before the start. Wind direction affects smoke drift, so positioning yourself upwind ensures a clear view.

Best time to visit

Allow approximately 40 minutes. Arriving around sunset allows you to enjoy the evening scenery.
