Next stop: Approximately 20,000 fireworks fill the night sky of the Sumida RiverAbout this spot
Sumida Park, stretching along both banks of the Sumida River, is one of the primary viewing areas for the Sumida River Fireworks Festival. The riverside on the Sumida Ward side is close to both the first and second viewing venues, offering an excellent vantage point to watch the fireworks with the river landscape directly in front of you. On festival day, numerous food stalls line the area, and the evening bustle is pure festival atmosphere. Spread a leisure sheet, enjoy dinner while watching the sun set, and gradually build anticipation for the fireworks display. The park is also known as a famous cherry blossom site, and in summer, the lush green trees provide shade that alleviates the daytime heat.
Tips
About 10 minutes walk from Higashimukojima Station or Hikirune Station on the Tobu Skytree Line. On festival day, traffic restrictions are in place in the park, so check the latest entry restrictions through official Sumida Ward announcements. Prime spots fill up rapidly from around 5 PM, so secure your spot early. Food and beverages at stalls sell out quickly, so bringing your own drinks is reassuring.
Best time to visit
Approximately 2 hours required. At dusk, the Sumida River breeze is pleasant and anticipation for the evening builds.
