About this spot

Hisai is a former castle town established in 1669 when Todo Takamichi founded the domain, and traces of that history still remain around Kintetsu Hisai Station today. Todo Takamichi Park (藤堂高通公園) is a lush green park connected to the first lord of the Hisai Domain, cherished by locals as a place to relax. Nearby are temples dating back to the Edo period and quiet lanes that still trace the layout of the old castle town, so simply strolling around lets you feel the atmosphere of history. Before the lively night of the fireworks festival, take time to savor the calm mood of daytime Hisai. Since it's within walking distance of the station, you can explore lightly with minimal luggage.

Tips

About a 5-minute walk from Kintetsu Hisai Station. Admission is free. Since the sun can be strong at this time of day, don't forget a hat and sunscreen. There are convenience stores near the station, so it's a good idea to pick up drinks before you start walking.
