Along the main approach of Fushimi Inari Taisha (伏見稲荷大社), teahouses and souvenir shops selling the specialty inari-zushi (稲荷寿司) and sweets line the way. Inari-zushi, made with fried tofu pouches connected to the shrine's fox deity, has a flavor unique to this area, and is suited both to eating on the go and sitting down to enjoy inside a shop. Taking a bite to eat here after finishing your visit to the Senbon Torii will keep your energy up for the rest of the afternoon. Sauce and fillings vary slightly from shop to shop, so comparing them as you go is part of the fun.

Tips

The teahouses along the main approach turn tables quickly even when crowded with worshippers, so getting a seat is usually fairly smooth. Getting food to go makes your next move smoother. From Keihan Fushimi Inari Station (京阪伏見稲荷駅) to Chushojima Station (中書島駅) is about a 3-minute ride on the Keihan Main Line.
