Fushimi is one of Japan's premier sake-brewing regions, standing alongside Nada, and the row of white-walled sake storehouses along the Horikawa canal that have stood since the Edo period present a landscape with unique character found nowhere else in Kyoto. Simply walking slowly along the stone-paved canal where willow branches sway creates the feeling of stepping back in time. The area around the Toishi boat (stone-measure boat) mooring is particularly picturesque and ideal for family photographs. In early summer when the greenery deepens, the contrast between white walls and verdant foliage is beautiful, making the stroll deeply pleasurable.

Tips
荒天時の開催可否は大会公式サイトの発表を当日確認してください。終了後は淀駅・周辺バス停が大変混雑します。フィナーレ後は会場でしばらく余韻を楽しんでから移動する時間差帰宅がおすすめです。帰りの電車・バスの時刻は事前に確認しておきましょう。足元が暗いエリアもあるため、スマートフォンのライトを活用してください。

About 5 minutes on foot from Keihan Chushojima Station. Some of the sake storehouses have facilities that combine viewing areas with retail shops, but the canal-side walk is enjoyable just observing the exteriors. Bring a hat on sunny days. For the evening meal, it's convenient to use restaurants around Chushojima Station.
Best time to visit
Approximately 2 hours required. Afternoon light strikes the white walls beautifully, creating a picturesque scene with the shimmer of the water surface.
