This indoor alley-style dining facility in Hiranocho, Fushimi Ward (伏見区平野町), centers on the sake bar Shuzo (酒蔵), with eight shops lining a single corridor, offering sushi, kushikatsu skewers, teppanyaki, ramen, and more. Shuzo's signature offering is the 'Eighteen Breweries Tasting Set' (十八蔵のきき酒セット), which lets you sample sake from all eighteen breweries belonging to the Fushimi Sake Brewers Association, with more than 120 labels always available. Since this is a place to enjoy the flavors of Fushimi, a renowned sake region, all in one spot, it's an ideal way to spend a relaxed early-summer evening while filling up ahead of the night's Kyoto Art Fireworks.

Tips

About a 5-minute walk from Keihan Chushojima Station (京阪中書島駅). Some of the breweries offer tours or shops you can visit, but even just strolling along the river while admiring the exteriors is plenty enjoyable. Don't forget a hat on sunny days. For an early dinner, it's convenient to use the restaurants around Chushojima Station.
