Miyazu City prospered as a castle town of the Miyazu Domain during the Edo period and is a port town where traces of that era remain throughout the town center. Walking along the Ote River (大手川), you'll notice the grid-pattern streets of the old castle town and historic merchant warehouses. The Miyazu Catholic Church (宮津カトリック教会), built in Romanesque style during the Meiji period, is a unique structure that tells the story of Miyazu's history as a port town. Despite being a small town, there are many attractions to discover while walking, offering a strolling course where you can leisurely experience the history and ambiance of Miyazu before the fireworks festival. On a hot summer afternoon, select shaded alleyways and walk at your own pace.

宮津燈籠流し花火大会は、お盆の精霊を送る燈籠流しの行事とともに開催される、宮津の夏を締めくくる風物詩です。2026年8月16日(日)19時50分から20時35分まで、島崎公園沖の宮津湾から約3,000発が打ち上げられます。海面を流れる無数の燈籠の灯りと、夜空に咲く花火が重なる光景は、海辺の花火大会の中でも特別な情緒があります。宮津湾に響く打ち上げ音と潮の香り、波音とともに楽しむ花火は、山に囲まれた丹後の港町ならではのスケールと静けさを合わせ持ちます。フィナーレの大型花火が宮津湾を照らす瞬間が、この1日のクライマックスです。

Tips

荒天時の開催可否は宮津市の公式発表で確認を。終了後は周辺道路と駐車場が大変混雑するため、車の場合は時間差での出発がおすすめです。宮津駅方面への徒歩帰宅ルートは事前に確認しておきましょう。足元が暗い場所があるのでスマホのライトを活用してください。
