About this spot

Standing on the bank of the Ureshino River, this public bathhouse is notable for its white, Taisho-romance-style Western building. It's named after the German physician Siebold, who visited Ureshino in the Edo period and highly praised the quality of Ureshino Onsen's hot-spring water. Inside, alongside a proper bathing area, there's a footbath space where you can relax while gazing at the river, making it an easy stop even for families with children. Rich in sodium, Ureshino Onsen's water is known as a “beauty-skin bath” that leaves skin silky-smooth, and you can experience this quality firsthand even just at the footbath. It's a perfect way to spend the afternoon relaxed in the onsen-town atmosphere while waiting for the fireworks in the evening.

Tips

You can walk or drive from Michi-no-Eki Ureshino Maruku (道の駅うれしのまるく) to the center of the onsen town. The footbath is cheaper to use than the full bathhouse; bring a towel that can get wet and a spare pair of socks for comfort. If you use the bathhouse, bring your own towel. Since the area gets crowded from the evening on the day of the fireworks, it's best to stop by earlier in the afternoon.
