A castle ruin adjacent to the Saga Castle Honmaru History Museum and the former residence of the Nabeshima family, lords of the Saga Domain. The existing "Shachihoko Gate" (Fish-Shaped Roof Tile Gate) is a representative historical structure of Saga City, with bullet holes remaining in the stone pillars from the Saga Rebellion in the late Edo period, bearing witness to the turbulent times. The stone walls and trees along the water moat create a quiet and beautiful landscape that is easy to walk through at a leisurely pace after visiting the history museum. This walking path, which also offers seasonal wildflowers, is ideal as a relaxed time on the day leading up to the fireworks festival.

2026年9月12日(土)20時打ち上げ開始の川上峡花火大会です。佐賀市大和町の嘉瀬川、官人橋下流から約1,500発が打ち上がり、峡谷の両岸に音が響き渡ります。川幅が比較的狭い峡谷のため、花火が真上から降り注ぐような迫力が魅力で、川面に映る光の帯も川上峡ならではの見どころです。秋の夜の澄んだ空気の中で見上げる花火は色鮮やかで、夏の花火大会とはひと味違う趣があります。嘉瀬川の川べりから間近に楽しめるこの大会は、地元に長く愛される佐賀市の秋の風物詩です。

Tips

荒天時の開催可否は大会主催の公式発表で確認してください。終了後は会場周辺の道路と駐車場が混雑するため、花火終了後しばらく川べりで余韻を楽しんでから移動する時間差帰宅がおすすめです。帰り道は足元が暗いエリアがあるため、ライトを持参しておきましょう。

Right next to the Saga Castle Honmaru History Museum, accessible on foot immediately after your visit. The bullet holes in the Shachihoko Gate are indicated on an information board, so be sure to look for them. Afterward, head north toward the Kawakami Gorge area by car or bus.
