The launch site for the Kawakami Gorge Fireworks Festival is downstream from the Kanin Bridge over the Kase River, with excellent views of the fireworks from various points along the riverbank. Food stalls line up in the evening before the show, and enjoying local cuisine while waiting for the festivities to begin is one of the highlights of this festival. As the sun sets, the river surface transforms from orange to indigo—a sight worth seeing even before the fireworks begin.
