Shikama Station (飾磨駅) on the Sanyo Electric Railway is the closest station to Himeji Port (Shikama district), within walking distance of the fireworks venue. On the evening of the fireworks display, food stalls and local eateries come alive, letting you enjoy a dinner full of port-town atmosphere. Try local flavors such as Himeji oden, local takoyaki, and light dishes made with seafood from Harima-nada. Since you will need to head to the venue about an hour before the fireworks begin to secure a viewing spot, it is wise to finish dinner early. This is also a good place to stock up on drinks and evening snacks at a convenience store or supermarket near the station.

Tips

About 10 minutes from Himeji Station to Shikama Station on the Sanyo Electric Railway. Return trains are very crowded on the day of the fireworks, so it helps to check your transfer route in advance. Food stalls can sell out early, so secure your meal as soon as you arrive. Restrooms tend to be less crowded near the station than around the venue itself.
