About this spot

The quay in the Shikama district of Himeji Port (姫路港) is the main viewing area for the offshore fireworks display. Harima-nada stretches out right in front of you, with nothing blocking the view all the way to the launch barges, so you can enjoy the fireworks up close and head-on. In the evening, the salty sea breeze at the port is pleasant, and watching the water's color shift as dusk falls is one of the pleasures of this course. Relax and soak in the festival atmosphere while you wait for the show to start. The bustle of nearby food stalls and fellow spectators only adds to the festive mood.

Tips

About a 15 to 20 minute walk from Shikama Station. On the day of the fireworks, people start claiming spots early, so it is ideal to arrive at the quay area in the early part of the 6 pm hour. The sea breeze can make you feel chilly, so bring something to layer on. The ground at the quay is hard, so a cushioned sheet or a folding cushion will make things more comfortable.

About 50 minutes. Enjoy watching the sky's colors change as the port transitions from dusk into the night sea.
