The exhibits also serve as great preparation for visiting the Kushiro Wetlands Observation Tower later, and seeing the displays before visiting the wetlands will help you appreciate the natural environment more deeply. As an introductory destination for understanding Kushiro, this is definitely a place you'll want to visit early in your afternoon itinerary.

釧路大漁どんぱく花火大会は、釧路川河口付近を会場に約10,000発が打ち上げられる、北海道を代表する大規模な花火大会です。川の水面に映り込む花火の光が二重の絶景をつくり出し、海に近い河口ならではの開放的なロケーションで花火が夜空いっぱいに広がります。9月の釧路の澄んだ夜空は透明度が高く、花火の色彩が鮮やかに映えます。フィナーレに向けて連続して打ち上がる約10,000発の迫力は圧巻で、北海道の秋夜にふさわしいスケールの大きな締めくくりです。

Tips

観覧は河口付近の河川敷や周辺の広場から。会場周辺は開始前から混雑するため、19時の開始30分前には場所を確保しておきましょう。9月の釧路の夜は気温が10度前後まで下がることがあるので、防寒着は必須です。終了後は周辺道路が渋滞するため、車の場合は時間差で移動を。公共交通機関の最終便も事前に確認しておきましょう。

Tips

About 5 minutes by car from Kushiro Station, and also accessible by local bus. Admission is 480 yen for adults, free for children (fees vary by age, so check the official website for confirmation). The museum may be closed on Mondays, so check opening hours in advance. Some areas within the museum allow photography while others do not.
