This white lighthouse stands on the easternmost cape in the Kanto region and has been watching over ships as an active lighthouse since the Meiji era. Climb all 99 steps of the spiral staircase and a sweeping panorama of the Pacific Ocean awaits you at the top. The attached exhibition hall displays an actual giant lighthouse lens, which gets kids very excited.
Tips
The stairs are steep and narrow, so a baby carrier is reassuring for small children. Strollers can be left at the entrance. The cape is windy, so watch out for hats blowing away.
Best time to visit
About 45 minutes. Mornings are good for taking clear photos.
