This is the city museum introducing the history and daily life of Matsudo, adjacent to the Forest and Plaza of the 21st Century. The greatest highlight is that life in each era is recreated in life-size exhibits, from a Jomon-period pit dwelling to a room in a postwar housing complex. Some exhibits can be entered and viewed from inside, so for children the experience of stepping into an old house is itself fascinating. It is indoors and air-conditioned, so being able to spend the hours of strong sunlight in the cool is also a help. Since it is on the same grounds as the park, it is convenient that the move after your visit takes only a few minutes on foot.
Tips
Closed on Mondays (the next weekday if Monday is a public holiday). During special exhibitions, fees and exhibit content can change, so check the official information. The building is a quiet space, so telling small children in advance about keeping their voices down keeps things smooth. You can visit with a stroller.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour 15 minutes. You can spend the late morning, when the sun gets strong, indoors
