This is the plaza on the Edo River (江戸川) riverbed that serves as the main venue for the Matsudo Fireworks Festival (松戸花火大会). Arrive early in the evening, spread out a picnic sheet, and secure your viewing spot. As the sun goes down, the river breeze becomes pleasant, and the view of the Saitama-side bank in the distance turning shades of sunset is also worth watching. Spread out takeout food or dinner picked up from stalls near the venue and enjoy a relaxed time as a family while waiting for the show to start. It's reassuring to check the restroom locations and your route home while it's still light out.

Tips

Travel from Matsudo Station (松戸駅) by local bus or on foot (check the festival's official website in advance for traffic restriction information on the day). Besides the free viewing area, paid seating such as sheet seats for 3,000–4,000 yen (prices vary by area) is also available. Convenience stores and stalls near the venue get very crowded from the evening onward, so it's best to pick up drinks and food early. It gets dark underfoot after sunset, so a small light is handy. Always take your trash home with you.
