A standard course for Beppu tourism featuring unique hot springs scattered throughout the Tetsuwara (鉄輪) and Kamegawa (亀川) areas. Enjoy different expressions of hot springs: "Umi Jigoku" (Sea Hell) with its vivid deep cobalt blue, "Chinoike Jigoku" (Blood Pond Hell) with its brilliant red hot mud, and "Tatsuomaki Jigoku" (Tornado Hell) with its jets of hot water at regular intervals. The white steam and powerful spouting that evoke the earth's heartbeat create a distinctly Beppu experience captivating visitors of all ages. Since walking or transfers between the hells are necessary, it's recommended to select 2-3 locations and view them thoroughly.

べっぷ火の海まつりのフィナーレを飾る納涼花火大会で、2026年7月26日(日)の20時08分から21時00分まで、別府スパビーチ沖の別府湾上から8,888発が打ち上がります。「火の海」の名にふさわしく、海面の上に次々と大輪が咲く様子は圧巻で、穏やかな別府湾の水面に映り込む光の帯が海辺の花火大会ならではの美しさを添えます。別府の温泉のまちの夜景を背景に、8,888という数字に込められた縁起のよさも感じながら、夏の夜の別府湾を彩るクライマックスをゆっくり味わいましょう。フィナーレの連発が夜空を埋め尽くす瞬間は、この1日の記憶に深く刻まれるはずです。

Tips

荒天時の開催可否は別府市または大会主催者の公式発表で確認を。終了後は北浜・別府駅方面への帰路が混雑するため、フィナーレ後はその場で少し余韻を楽しんでから時間差で移動するのがおすすめです。足元が暗くなるのでスマホのライトを活用し、子どもの手をしっかりつないで帰りましょう。

Tips

About 25 minutes by bus from Beppu Station (別府駅) toward the Tetsuwara area. A combined ticket for 7 locations (around 2,000 yen for adults with child discounts) and individual tickets are available, so choose according to your schedule. Each hell is for viewing only; bathing is not permitted. The steam makes conditions humid and hot, so hydrate frequently. Plan to leave Tetsuwara around 4:30 PM to make it in time for the evening fireworks.
