About this spot

Along with Takayama Bamboo Grove Garden (高山竹林園), Mukaiyama Park (むかいやま公園) in Hagiwara-cho, Ikoma City (生駒市萩原町) is a fireworks launch site for the Ikoma Dondoko Festival Summer Fireworks. Fireworks watched from this area, cradled by the mountains of Ikoma, offer a beautiful contrast between the green silhouettes and the night sky, with a quiet power unique to a mountain setting. This Ikoma summer night, where the festival's liveliness and nature come together as one, has a flavor quite different from a fireworks festival in a big city. It is a fitting time for the climax of an evening after spending the day climbing Mount Ikoma, walking through the bamboo grove, and enjoying the festival. Enjoy the experience of looking up at the night sky together as a family while the sound of the fireworks echoes through the mountains.

Tips

The fireworks launch from 8:00 PM to 8:15 PM (per Ikoma City's official announcement). The event proceeds as scheduled in light rain; in severe weather, only the fireworks are postponed to the following day, August 2, while the festival's other events are canceled. Since crowds heading home concentrate afterward, research bus and train times in advance and plan with extra time to spare. It gets dark underfoot, so prepare comfortable walking shoes and a small light.
