About this spot

A roadside station located right beside Hagi Fishing Port, where shops and restaurants selling fresh seafood caught in the Japan Sea are concentrated. Amadai (locally called Guji in Hagi), squid, wild fugu, and other local seafood delicacies line the shelves. Filling your stomach with Hagi's seafood delights on the eve of the fireworks display is one of the greatest pleasures of this course. You can also purchase takeout meals and bring them to nearby Kikugahama Beach. At the fresh fish direct sales corner, you can select local products as souvenirs while enjoying Hagi's cuisine amid the evening hustle and bustle.

2026年8月1日(土)20時打ち上げ開始、萩夏まつりのフィナーレを飾る「萩・日本海大花火大会」です。萩商港から菊ヶ浜にかけての海上から約7,000発が打ち上がり、夜の日本海を鮮やかに彩ります。開けた海上からの打ち上げは花火が大きく見え、遮るものがない砂浜からの観覧は視界が広くて迫力満点です。海面に映る花火の反射光も、海辺の大会ならではの美しさ。城下町萩を1日歩いたあと、白砂の浜に座って日本海から上がる花火を見上げる1時間は、この旅のクライマックスにふさわしいひとときです。

Tips

荒天時の開催可否は大会公式の発表および萩市の案内で確認を。終了後は会場周辺の道路が混雑するため、すぐに車で移動するより浜で少し余韻を楽しんでから動くのがおすすめ。帰りの宿や駐車場までの経路は事前に確認しておきましょう。足元が暗いため小型ライトを用意すると安心です。
