About this spot

A beautiful white sand and blue pine beach extending from the east side of Hagi Castle Ruins toward the Hagi Commercial Port. From the wide sandy beach facing the Japan Sea, you can see an unobstructed horizon, and at dusk, the sky and sea turn a magnificent orange, creating a spectacular sunset. Tonight, Kikugahama becomes the fireworks display venue. Head to the beach in the evening to secure a viewing spot while enjoying the fading sunset and anticipating the fireworks night to come. The sea breeze is refreshing, and the time spent sitting on the sand before the show begins is a precious moment of your summer Hagi journey.

2026年8月1日(土)20時打ち上げ開始、萩夏まつりのフィナーレを飾る「萩・日本海大花火大会」です。萩商港から菊ヶ浜にかけての海上から約7,000発が打ち上がり、夜の日本海を鮮やかに彩ります。開けた海上からの打ち上げは花火が大きく見え、遮るものがない砂浜からの観覧は視界が広くて迫力満点です。海面に映る花火の反射光も、海辺の大会ならではの美しさ。城下町萩を1日歩いたあと、白砂の浜に座って日本海から上がる花火を見上げる1時間は、この旅のクライマックスにふさわしいひとときです。

Tips

荒天時の開催可否は大会公式の発表および萩市の案内で確認を。終了後は会場周辺の道路が混雑するため、すぐに車で移動するより浜で少し余韻を楽しんでから動くのがおすすめ。帰りの宿や駐車場までの経路は事前に確認しておきましょう。足元が暗いため小型ライトを用意すると安心です。

Tips

Within walking distance from Michi-no-Eki Hagi Shii-Maート. On the fireworks display day, crowds increase around sunset, so secure a spot by 7 PM at the latest. It's strongly recommended to use restrooms early. The ground becomes dark at night, so having a smartphone light or small flashlight is reassuring.
