About this spot

Mt. Ryuo (竜王山) is a mountain rising behind Sanyo-Onoda City (山陽小野田市), with a park developed from its slopes up to the summit. It's an area where you can enjoy a leisurely walk amid lush nature, and from the viewpoints you can look out over the city and surrounding scenery. On summer days, the shaded promenade stays cool, letting kids enjoy some active time too. Refreshing yourself with an afternoon walk before heading to the venue in the evening makes for a nice change of pace during the day. Walking through the green mountains while the summer light is still bright will deepen your impression of the fireworks that night.

Tips

A car is convenient for access from within Sanyo-Onoda City (山陽小野田市). Some sections of the park's promenade are unpaved, so wear comfortable walking shoes. Working backward from the time you need to head to the fireworks venue in the evening, it's reassuring to start heading down the mountain around 4:30 PM.
