This is Yanai's gateway to the sea, where ferries to Suo-Oshima Island depart and arrive. At dusk, the port is a time when passing ships and the silhouette of the opposite island quietly sink into the evening, offering a pleasant relief from the daytime heat. After gazing at the sea in the sea breeze, head back to the white-walled old town for the festival's finale. The street where the goldfish lanterns light up all at once is the most vibrant sight of summer in Yanai. Walking beneath the red lights together as a family is the closing moment of this course.

Best time to visit

The port around sunset is the quietest and most beautiful time. Heading back into town before it gets dark makes moving around easier.
