About this spot

A park spread across a small hill near the mouth of the Mogami River, with the place name "Hiwayama" (meaning "fair weather mountain") remaining from ancient times when sailors read the weather. From within the park, you can see at a glance the great flow of the Mogami River and the Japan Sea, and on clear days, Mt. Chokai (also called the "Fuji of Dewa") comes into view, making this an ideal vantage point to understand Sakata's geography at a glance. Old lighthouses and other monuments characteristic of a port town are scattered throughout, allowing you to take a walk while feeling the weight of history. It's also an ideal place to look down at the Mogami River Park (tonight's fireworks venue) from above and expand your imagination of the viewing location.

2026年9月12日(土)19時から20時まで、最上川河川公園を会場に約10,000発が打ち上がる「酒田の花火」の観覧です。最上川の広い川幅を活かした大迫力のワイドスターマインや、夜空いっぱいに広がる尺玉の大輪が次々と咲き誇ります。川面に映る花火の光が揺れる眺めは、河川会場ならではの美しさです。重低音の打ち上げ音が川沿いに響き渡り、体で感じる約10,000発の1時間は、東北の秋を告げる花火大会にふさわしいクライマックスです。フィナーレの連続打ち上げが終わったら、余韻を楽しみながらゆっくり帰路につきましょう。

Tips

荒天時の開催可否は主催者の公式発表で当日確認してください。終了後は周辺道路と駐車場の出口が大変混雑します。帰りは時間差で動くか、徒歩圏内の駐車場を事前に確保しておくのがおすすめです。足元が暗いのでライトを持参し、安全に移動しましょう。

Tips

About 5 minutes by car from Honma Family Former Main Residence. Admission is free. There is a pleasant breeze on the hilltop, and even in September you'll enjoy a cool atmosphere. The old lighthouse in the park can only be viewed from the outside. Considering the move to the river park in the evening, it's wise to depart before 4 PM.
