The main venue for the Mt. Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi Mountain Opening Fireworks Festival, located in the lakeside park area. The grassy areas and promenade facing the lake serve as viewing spaces, offering an ideal location to simultaneously enjoy the fireworks launching over the lake and Mt. Fuji's silhouette. From the late afternoon onward, crowds increase as spectators arrive for the fireworks, with prime spots filling quickly, so arriving around 4:00 PM to lay out your leisure mat is advisable. As the sun sets, Mt. Fuji gradually turns crimson, then transforms into the indigo night sky—this changing landscape itself becomes a major highlight before the fireworks begin. Food stalls are also set up, so you can purchase dinner here.

富士山の山開き(7月1日)を祝う花火大会で、河口湖畔・大池公園ほか湖畔エリアを会場に約2,000発が打ち上げられます。湖上から打ち上がる花火は富士山のシルエットを背景に夜空へと広がり、静かな湖面に光の帯を映し出す光景は、内陸の湖の花火ならではの美しさです。標高800mを超える湖畔の夜気は澄み渡り、花火の色が鮮やかに映えます。山開きという特別な節目の夜を飾る約20分間の打ち上げは、富士山と河口湖の自然が揃って初めて成立する、山梨の夏を象徴する風物詩です。
Tips
荒天時の開催可否は富士河口湖町の公式発表で事前に確認を。終了後は河口湖駅方面への道と駐車場が大変混み合います。フィナーレ後は湖畔でしばらく余韻を楽しんでから時間差で移動するか、河口湖駅からの富士急行線の帰りの時刻を事前に確認しておきましょう。足元が暗くなるため小さなライトがあると安心です。
Tips
From Kawaguchiko Station (河口湖駅), approximately 10-15 minutes on foot, or several minutes by route bus. On fireworks festival day, parking becomes extremely congested, so use of public transportation is strongly recommended. Use restrooms beforehand. At night, due to the lakeshore's high elevation, even in midsummer a light jacket becomes necessary for the coolness.
Best time to visit
Approximately 3 hours 15 minutes required. Enjoy the time leisurely from Mt. Fuji's sunset glow through the start of the show, savoring the changing colors of the sky.
