This is the fireworks display launched between Asahi Bridge (朝日橋) and Asahi Ohashi Bridge (朝日大橋) on the Kitakami River riverbed, from 19:30 to 21:00 on Saturday, August 8, 2026. Large fireworks spreading across the sky of Iwate and Hanamaki, the place Miyazawa Kenji called Ihatov, create a fantastical scene together with a band of light reflected on the water. The finale, where starmine and large shells fill the night sky in continuous bursts, is an experience etched into your body along with the powerful sound echoing off the flowing river. Summer fireworks enjoyed in a town where Kenji's poetic spirit lives on, combined with the memories of the trip you've built up over the day, will make for an unforgettable night.

Tips

Check the organizer's official information on the day for whether the event will go ahead in case of severe weather. Roads and parking around the venue get very crowded after the show ends. It's recommended to enjoy the afterglow at the riverbed for a while after the finale, then move once the crowds have settled. Since it's dark underfoot, bringing a small light is reassuring.

Timed to the event running 19:30-21:00. Viewing from a spot where the launch site is directly in front of you gives the most powerful impact
