The Kitakami River riverbed between Asahi Bridge (朝日橋) and Asahi Ohashi Bridge (朝日大橋) is the viewing area for the Fireworks Fantasy. The wide riverbed feels open, and it's a pleasant spot to claim with a breeze crossing the water. As the sun sets, watching the river's surface shift from orange to indigo is a beauty unique to a Hanamaki summer dusk. Securing a spot with a picnic sheet during this time and checking the restroom locations and your route around will make the evening's viewing go smoothly. Listen to the sound of the flowing river and take your time waiting for the 19:30 start.

Tips

About a 10-minute drive from Hanamaki Station (花巻駅); it's also reachable on foot. Since surrounding roads get congested on the day of the fireworks display, secure parking early following the organizer's guidance. Spreading your picnic sheet in a spot where the launch site is directly in front of you enhances the impact. Since lines can form at the food stalls from the evening onward, it's reassuring to finish dinner near the station before coming here.
