About this spot

This is the passenger terminal standing right in front of the Hiroshima Electric Railway's terminal stop, Hiroshima Port (広島港), and it serves as Hiroshima's gateway to the sea, with ferries departing for Miyajima (宮島), Etajima (江田島), and other destinations. From the plaza in front of the building, you can look out over the calm waters of the Seto Inland Sea (瀬戸内海) and the islands across the water, taking in the port atmosphere along with the scent of the sea. There is also a rest area inside the terminal building, ideal for cooling off while gazing at the sea during the hot part of the day. Checking the direction offshore where tonight's fireworks will launch while it is still daytime will make the evening viewing even more enjoyable.

Tips

About 1 minute on foot from the Hiroshima Electric Railway (広島電鉄) Line 5 Hiroshima Port (広島港) tram stop. Use of the facility is free. There are vending machines and small shops nearby. It is about a 5-10 minute walk to the next stop, Ujina Hatoba Park (宇品波止場公園). Anticipating the evening crowds at the venue, it goes smoothly if you finish buying drinks and snacks around this time.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 30 minutes. This is the time of day when the afternoon light makes the Seto Inland Sea's surface sparkle.
