An ancient Shingon Buddhist temple with its temple grounds located right near Kusado Inari Shrine. The main hall (shodo) was built in 1321, and the five-story pagoda in 1348, both designated as National Treasures. There are few temples nationwide with an existing five-story pagoda, and it is known as Hiroshima Prefecture's only National Treasure five-story pagoda. The temple grounds form a quiet space surrounded by trees, creating a serene atmosphere that makes you forget the summer heat. As a brief respite in the middle of a lively day, spending time in the company of ancient architecture and silence makes the evening fireworks even more striking.

福山夏まつりの締めくくりを飾る、中国・四国地方でも有数の規模を誇る花火大会です。芦田川大橋上流の川上から打ち上がる約16,000発は、川幅いっぱいに広がる水面に光を映しながら夜空を次々と彩ります。大河の川面に映るリフレクションが生む光の二重奏は、川の花火大会ならではの贅沢な見せ場です。スターマインや大玉など多彩なプログラムが60分にわたって続き、フィナーレの連発は芦田川の空を丸ごと染め上げます。地元の人々が「夏の終わり」を感じるこの花火を、川風とともに存分に楽しんでください。

Tips

荒天時の開催可否は福山夏まつり実行委員会の公式発表で確認してください。終了後は会場周辺の道路と交通機関が大変混雑します。花火終了後はすぐに移動せず、河川敷で少し余韻を楽しんでから行動すると比較的スムーズです。帰りの足元が暗くなるため、小さなライトがあると安心です。

Tips

5-10 minutes on foot from Kusado Inari Shrine. Visiting the temple grounds is free. The National Treasure buildings are primarily viewed from the exterior. In the summer evening, mosquitoes begin to appear, so bringing insect repellent will be useful from this point onward. Next, move to the Ashida River Green Space to secure your viewing spot.
