Grand Finale - Viewing Approximately 16,000 Fireworks Across the Ashida River
About this spot
A fireworks display of considerable scale even for the Chugoku and Shikoku regions, marking the grand finale of the Fukuyama Summer Festival. Approximately 16,000 fireworks launched from upstream of Ashida River Bridge spread across the full width of the river, illuminating the night sky with reflections on the water's surface. The reflection duet created by the light mirroring off the great river's water is a luxurious spectacle unique to a river fireworks display. Diverse programs featuring star mines and large shells continue for 60 minutes, and the finale's successive bursts completely illuminate the Ashida River's sky. Fully enjoy this fireworks display, which marks "the end of summer" for local people, in the company of the river breeze.

For confirmation of whether the display will be held in case of bad weather, check the official announcement by the Fukuyama Summer Festival Executive Committee. After the display ends, roads and transportation around the venue become very congested. Rather than leaving immediately after the fireworks end, taking some time to linger and enjoy the afterglow on the riverbed results in comparatively smoother movement. Since the path underfoot becomes dark on the way back, having a small light is reassuring.
