The covered shopping arcade that spreads from in front of Imabari Station is the heart of Imabari, beloved by locals for many years. Throughout this area, numerous restaurants serve "yakitori tamago gohan," known as Imabari's soul food—a rice bowl topped with sweet and savory grilled pork and a soft-boiled egg, a taste you won't forget once you've tried it. Imabari is also renowned nationwide as one of the cities with the highest consumption of yakitori (grilled chicken), and you can casually enjoy skewered grilled chicken made from local poultry. On the day of the fireworks festival, the restaurants in the area will be crowded, so it's safer to finish eating before 6 PM.

今治市民のまつり「おんまく」のクライマックスを飾る花火大会で、2026年8月9日(日)20時から50分間にわたって約10,000発が今治港防波堤から打ち上げられます。「おんまく」とは今治の方言で「思い切り・大いに」を意味し、その名のとおり瀬戸内の夜空いっぱいに豪快な花火が広がります。港の開けた空間で見る大輪の花火は遮るものがなく、水面に映る光の揺らめきも見ごたえたっぷりです。山あいの湖の花火とはまた異なる、海辺の港ならではの開放感と迫力をたっぷり味わえる50分間です。フィナーレの連続打ちが港全体を照らす瞬間は、この1日のすべての思い出を塗り替えるほどの感動があります。

荒天時の開催可否は今治市または「おんまく」実行委員会の公式発表で当日確認してください。終了後は今治駅・周辺バス停が大変混雑します。花火終了後は港周辺で少し時間をずらしてから移動すると比較的スムーズです。帰りの足(バス・タクシー・車)の手配は事前に計画しておきましょう。足元が暗くなるのでスマホのライトを活用し、安全に移動してください。

Just a short walk from Imabari Station. On the day of the fireworks festival, restaurants become crowded from the early evening, so arrive early or use takeout. Imabari's grilled chicken offers abundant variety, including beef offal, for both adults and children to enjoy. After your meal, head to the Imabari Port breakwater near Katahara-cho on foot or by a short bus ride to secure your viewing spot.
