The area around Katahara-cho on the Imabari Port breakwater is the primary viewing area for tonight's "Onmaku" fireworks. Along the breakwater facing the Seto Inland Sea, a refreshing sea breeze blows pleasantly in the evening hours. The sunset sea, with the western sky dyed in shades of orange, makes the moments before the fireworks truly special. Spread out a leisure sheet and wait for the show to begin while snacking on drinks and light food from the food stalls and soaking in the atmosphere. On the day of the fireworks festival, viewing spaces begin to fill up early, so it's important to arrive by the 6 PM hour and secure your spot comfortably.

今治市民のまつり「おんまく」のクライマックスを飾る花火大会で、2026年8月9日(日)20時から50分間にわたって約10,000発が今治港防波堤から打ち上げられます。「おんまく」とは今治の方言で「思い切り・大いに」を意味し、その名のとおり瀬戸内の夜空いっぱいに豪快な花火が広がります。港の開けた空間で見る大輪の花火は遮るものがなく、水面に映る光の揺らめきも見ごたえたっぷりです。山あいの湖の花火とはまた異なる、海辺の港ならではの開放感と迫力をたっぷり味わえる50分間です。フィナーレの連続打ちが港全体を照らす瞬間は、この1日のすべての思い出を塗り替えるほどの感動があります。

荒天時の開催可否は今治市または「おんまく」実行委員会の公式発表で当日確認してください。終了後は今治駅・周辺バス停が大変混雑します。花火終了後は港周辺で少し時間をずらしてから移動すると比較的スムーズです。帰りの足(バス・タクシー・車)の手配は事前に計画しておきましょう。足元が暗くなるのでスマホのライトを活用し、安全に移動してください。

About 15 minutes on foot from Imabari Station. On the day of the fireworks festival, traffic restrictions may be in place on surrounding roads, so please check the official traffic information in advance. Use restrooms before the show begins. Since the breakwater is a concrete surface, bringing a cushion or folding seat pad will make prolonged sitting more comfortable. Some food stall items may sell out early, so it's safer to purchase food from the shopping arcade beforehand.
Best time to visit
Approximately 2 hours required. Enjoy watching the colors of the Seto Inland Sea change subtly before and after sunset while leisurely waiting for the fireworks to begin.
