The Port of Iyo breakwater, the venue for the Iyo Sai Matsuri Fireworks Festival, offers an open location facing Iyonada (伊予灘) with nothing to block the view, letting you enjoy the fireworks head-on. As the sun sets, the color of the sea's surface changes moment by moment, and the time when the sky deepens into indigo is a quiet pleasure before the fireworks. Once you've spread out a picnic sheet to claim a spot, lay out the drinks and snacks you brought and wait for the show to begin. Families and locals gather around you as well, and the excited atmosphere before the festival builds up. Take your time enjoying the summer dusk in the pleasant sea breeze of the harbor as you get ready.

Tips

Since securing a viewing spot is important on the day of the fireworks, it's best to arrive by 7:00 p.m. at the latest. Use the restrooms set up at the venue early. Keep your belongings to a minimum, and it's reassuring to be prepared to move smoothly given the crowds on the way home.
