About this spot

This old-fashioned covered shopping arcade runs through the city center, just a short walk from Uwajima Station. Shops here sell Uwajima specialties such as pearls, Uwajima jakoten (fried fish cakes), and processed citrus products, offering a lively taste of local everyday life. During the Ushioni Festival period, the arcade takes on a festive mood, with fans and decorations tied to the festival on display here and there. Picking out souvenirs before your evening meal means you can enjoy the fireworks at night without worrying about your bags.

Tips

About 5 minutes on foot from Uwajima Station. Crowds increase during the festival, so keep an eye on your valuables. Souvenirs bought at this stage can be left in a coin locker at the station to travel light. Jakoten is also handy as a snack you can eat on the go.

About 1 hour 15 minutes. Before evening, the arcade is relatively easy to walk through at a relaxed pace
