The viewing area for the Nagaoka Matsuri Grand Fireworks Festival spans both banks of the Shinano River below Nagao Bridge. Premium viewing spots near the launch site fill rapidly from evening onward, so secure your spot with a leisure sheet by around 4 PM. Once positioned, spread out the takeout meals purchased from the shopping street and eat before the fireworks begin. The Shinano River at dusk, with its wide expanse and distant mountain silhouettes tinted orange, presents a beautiful time that rivals the festival's opening ceremony. Nearby food stalls offer local Nagaoka cuisine and craft beers.

Tips

On fireworks festival day, portions of the viewing area become paid seating, so confirm free viewing spaces and paid seating boundaries on the official website beforehand. Positions directly below the launch site have particularly loud sounds, so bring earplugs if young children are present. Temporary restrooms have long queues, so go early.
