About this spot
An important castle (Gusuku) ruins from the pre-Ryukyu Kingdom era that flourished in the 13th-14th centuries, located on a hilltop in Urasoe City. The sturdy stone walls built from Ryukyu limestone still remain and are designated as a national historic site. The view of Urasoe's streets and the East China Sea seen through the castle walls repays the effort of walking here. The adjacent Youdore (royal tomb) is where King Eiso and others rest, with a solemn atmosphere that lets you feel the beauty of Ryukyu architecture. When walking with the knowledge gained from the museum in mind, each stone wall comes to life more vividly. The ground has uneven stone paving and dirt paths, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

てだこポケットフェスタ〜浦添てだこまつり〜のフィナーレを飾る花火が、浦添カルチャーパーク上空に打ち上がります。地域の文化・芸術の発信拠点であるアイム・ユニバースてだこホールを舞台に繰り広げられるこの祭りは、浦添市を代表する秋の風物詩です。昼間の観光で「てだこ(太陽の子)」の歴史に触れてきた分、祭りの名前と花火の光が心の中で重なる特別な瞬間になるはずです。祭りの熱気が最高潮に達した夜空を彩る花火は、この1日をしめくくるにふさわしいクライマックスです。フィナーレの余韻を楽しんだら、混雑が落ち着くのを待ってからゆっくり帰路につきましょう。
Tips
花火は19:50〜20:00の予定。荒天時の開催可否は大会公式の発表を確認してください。終了後はゆいレール浦添前田駅方面への帰路が混み合うため、時間差での移動がおすすめです。足元が暗くなるので、スマホのライト機能や小型ライトを活用して安全に移動しましょう。

Accessible on foot in several minutes from Urasoe City Museum. Admission is free. Don't forget a hat and sunscreen to avoid strong sunlight. Be careful as the area around the castle walls becomes slippery after rain. Walking slowly around the entire perimeter of the Gusuku takes about 30-40 minutes.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour required. In the afternoon when the sky is high and blue, the contrast between the stone walls and sky is striking.
